The Albany County District Attorney’s Office says 31 brokers have evaded state taxes, including Brown Harris Stevens’ Kathy Sloane, 62, who brokered more than $200 million in deals last year. Sloane, who helped Bill and Hillary Clinton buy homes, is scheduled to appear in court on April 4. Prosecutors said the 31 suspects did not report nearly $13 million in income and owe the state about $650,000. Twenty-nine brokers face felony charges for failing to pay state income taxes for three or more consecutive years. An attorney for Sloane said she has cooperated with the state’s investigation and is unlikely to face charges. Sloane has brokered deals totaling $90 million at 823 Park Avenue, where she is the exclusive broker.
