The Brooklyn Heights Association is funding an ambitious effort by architectural historian Francis Morrone to document the history and architectural significance of about 700 post-Civil War Brooklyn Heights buildings, and possibly an additional 700 of the neighborhoods pre-Civil War buildings. When designated a historic district by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1965, the agency did not do the thorough architectural research it does prior to designations today.
