Ratner’s Spruce Street tower also lacks financing

Developer Bruce Ratner’s financial struggles seem to be going beyond the massive Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn. A week after revealing that he was expecting delays on that project because of the credit crunch, his 75-story Beekman Tower at 8 Spruce Street near City Hall (between William and Nassau Streets) is also on the ropes. Construction on the project, also designed by Frank Gehry, has been put on hold, which has worried community members because it also includes a new school that was supposed to be ready for the 2009 academic year.
