Despite Atlantic Yards developer Bruce Ratner’s claims that the Nets are “absolutely not for sale,” Newark Mayor Cory Booker and the owner of the New Jersey Devils hockey team are reportedly working to assemble a group of New Jersey investors to buy the basketball team and move it to Newark. As first reported by The Real Deal, investors want to move the team to the Newark’s new Prudential Center, as Ratner struggles to finance his $4 billion Brooklyn development, which includes a new Nets’ arena. Another option, some say, is that the team could remain at its current Meadowlands location.
