Panelists speaking at the New School’s Center for New York City Affairs said building Moynihan Station should remain a priority even as the economy weakens. City Comptroller William Thompson said the troubled plan to transform Penn Station and the Farley Post Office into a transit hub would “open up the West Side” and noted that funding is available from the Port Authority. Thompson, a likely candidate for mayor, said of other big projects: “A lot of these projects aren’t going to move. It’s the simple reality of lack of credit.”
