The city has secured $36 million for a 10-acre redesign of Coney Island’s Asser Levy Park, which will lead to a “world-class” amphitheater. Officials want to break ground by August of next year and finish the project by as early as the summer of 2011. The amphitheater will be designed the British firm Grimshaw, which designed the new Cemusa bus shelters.
