New luxury condo towers are showing off their “abs,” a name being given to the protruding accents on their facades, which show off their strength and make them objects — and apartments — of desire. Two of the toned towers are Platinum at 247 West 46th Street and Atelier at 635 West 42nd Street. Platinum’s asymmetrical abs are its focal point on the west side of the 43-story tower, and the Atelier’s abs stretch across two-thirds of the 46-story building’s north and south glass facades. Both buildings were designed by architect Costas Kondylis.
