The president of the Empire State Development Corporation, Avi Schick, has resigned and will step down in September. Schick hasn’t been at the helm for long. He took over the chief position in March, after co-chairman Patrick J. Foye resigned under pressure. Gov. David Paterson is looking for a new chairman to restructure the agency, often plagued by internal disputes among executives. Schick said he would work in the private sector. Paterson has asked Schick to continue serving as chairman of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.
