Developer John Catsimatidis, the CEO of the Gristedes supermarket chain, is crafting a run for mayor next year that will trumpet his life story as a Greek-born, Harlem-raised, self-made billionaire. “Mike Bloomberg is Wall Street and John is Main Street,” Republican political operative Robert Ryan told the Sun. Catsimatidis will also promote himself as a smart businessman. He ranked No. 220 on the Forbes 400 list. His net worth of $2.1 billion comes from holdings in supermarkets, oil and real estate. In December, Catsimatidis spoke to The Real Deal about his plans.
