The Post reports that a high-ranking Department of Buildings inspector overrode the concerns that a lower-ranking inspector had about safety at the site of the East 91st Street crane collapse. The lower-ranking inspector found defective bolts and welds in the turntable, among other problems. The Department of Buildings said it would not comment during the collapse’s investigation. The site had a partial stop-work order that was rescinded on May 21, nine days before the collapse that killed two workers.
