Frankie and Johnny’s, a Times Square area steakhouse that had started out as a Prohibition-era speakeasy, will be demolished to make way for a Related Companies/Boston Properties tower planned on the east side of Eighth Avenue between 45th and 46th streets. Next door to the steakhouse, the small building at 726 Eighth Avenue will also be cleared for the 850,000-square-foot tower. Some tenement buildings in the middle of the block appear to have been spared. Boston is also building a bigger office tower eight blocks north on Eighth Avenue.
