Bay Ridge movie theater remains a mess

The restoration of the 87-year-old Alpine Theater, a historic cinema located at 6817 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn, are stalled, leaving the theater in a state of disrepair. Businessman Nicholas Nicolaou bought the Bay Ridge movie theater two years ago for $6 million, but his renovation plan was rejected by the Department of Buildings and a new plan hasn’t been submitted yet. Despite its bad shape, the theater’s five screens are still showing films.
