City could be charged over Deutsche Bank building fire

City and state agencies could be hit with an indictment by a grand jury over last year’s deadly Deutsche Bank building fire. The panel is examining whether anyone is criminally at fault for the fire that killed two firefighters last August at the building overlooking Ground Zero. The building at 130 Liberty Street was being dismantled after sustaining heavy damage on Sept. 11, 2001. Problems included sealed exits and a broken standpipe that made fighting the fire impossible. If an agency is charged, it would face steep fines and court-ordered supervision.
