Paying a broker a lower commission doesn’t always mean getting a lower quality of service, according to a Consumer Reports survey. The survey showed most people who reduced brokers’ commissions from 6 to 3 percent didn’t receive poorer service, and the homes sold faster. Thirty-one percent of the respondents that reduced commission said their agent sold their home in less than a month, while only 26 percent paying the standard 6 percent commission sold in less than a month.
