Retail continues to change in Windsor Terrace. The owner of the Lower
East Side cafe and music venue Cake Shop is opening a bar on Prospect
Park West. It’s the first new bar to open there in 75 years, and is scheduled to open by Christmas of this year at
the former site of a video store. This past December, DUB Pies opened
in the area at the corner of Prospect Park West and Sixteenth Street.
The hip meat and vegetarian pie establishment took a 300-square-foot
space that previously held a Western Union. Retail rents on the strip
are around $50 per square foot, considerably lower than comparable
spaces in nearby Park Slope.
