The Department of City Planning announced today that it will begin a public review of the rezoning for the lower Grand Concourse in the South Bronx, a 30-block Area Between East 149th Street, Harlem River and Morris Avenue. The manufacturing area would become mixed-use under the proposed zoning change. Residential development would come to the area for the first time, with the creation of more than 3,400 residential and commercial units and 600 new affordable housing units. The community has demonstrated widespread support of the plan.
