Citigroup is exploring ending its nearly $400 million marketing deal with the New York Mets after the deal fueled controversy over how banks are using federal bailout funds, sources told the Wall Street Journal. The 20-year agreement includes a provision to name the Mets’ new stadium after Citi. Citigroup said in a statement yesterday that no TARP funds, of which Citigroup has received $45 billion, would be used for the stadium. Several members of the House of Representatives have criticized the deal.
