The New York Mets said in a statement today that the team’s $400 million sponsorship agreement with Citigroup, which includes the naming rights to the Mets’ new stadium, is “legally binding.” The Wall Street Journal reported today that Citigroup is looking at ending the deal, which has become controversial since Citi received $45 billion in federal Troubled Asset Relief Program money. Citi has said that no TARP funds would be used for the stadium.
