Outreach Housing, a so-called mortgage savior firm now in receivership, is one of a dozen companies the state has targeted for allegedly siphoning money away from home payments and worsening the standing of homeowners who are behind on their mortgages. Advocates fear that the $75 billion plan President Barack Obama announced last week to subsidize new loan terms for millions of American homeowners will draw even more shady operators to the industry, and the state attorney general’s office has fielded 108 complaints from possible victims of foreclosure rescue schemes in the last two weeks.
