As prices continue to fall in Manhattan, studios for around $200,000 have returned to the market. The New York Times found 10 studios in prime Manhattan neighborhoods, many in doorman buildings, priced between $199,000 and $269,000. At 160 East 91st Street, a 250-square-foot studio is on the market for $199,000. The studio is in an elevator co-op with a doorman, but has almost no natural light. It was originally priced at $269,000, and the broker said inquiries doubled when the price was lowered. And at 99 Avenue B in the East Village, a studio of the same size is on the market for $249,000. The home has a single hall closet, little room for storage and not much natural light. According to Streeteasy.com, it is the lowest-priced Studio Below 42nd Street.
