Jump in property tax costs everyone money

The city’s
increasing property taxes will cost everyone more money, even those who
don’t own property. State regulators recommended today that Con Edison
be allowed to increase electricity rates by about 7 percent, with more
than half of the $785 million increase caused by higher property taxes
and assessments. And according to the Rent Guidelines Board, landlords’
operating costs are climbing because of the property tax increase.
