The Stella D’oro factory on West 237th Street in the Bronx will close in October, the baked goods company’s owners announced today. Brynwood Partners, a Greenwich, Conn.-based private equity company that purchased Stella D’oro in 2006, made the decision to close the factory. A federal judge last week ordered the company to reinstate 134 workers who had been on strike since mid-August. The company’s owners had demanded wage and benefit reductions to make the factory profitable. The company’s operations will move elsewhere after the factory closes, a company statement indicated.
