After more than a year of
debates, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the residential
portion of the St. Vincent’s Hospital redevelopment plan. Landmarks’
approval clears the way for the Seventh Avenue hospital building to be
demolished and replaced with an apartment tower developed by Rudin
Management. Rudin bought the site from St. Vincent’s for $310 million,
which the hospital will use to build a medical facility across the
street. The entire plan will now go to the Department of City Planning, where it will need
to
obtain zoning changes in order to proceed. It will also need City Council approval. [Crain’s] and [Curbed]
