Nathan’s Famous hot dog restaurant may be one of the most famous sights at Coney Island, but it still might not make the cut for landmark status. The Shore Theater, built in the 1920s, might soon garner a coveted spot on the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s list, but lingering doubts about the site’s architectural integrity could derail Nathan’s bid. No official hearings are scheduled for landmark discussions, according to a spokesperson from the commission, but both the theater and the hot dog spot are still under consideration.
