Openings and closings: Paws and Relax opening, Jubilee closing

Downtown, Mini Bar will be opening on Seventh Street near Avenue A Dec. 11. In the Meatpacking District, clothing store Anthropologie is opening in the Chelsea Market at 75 Ninth Avenue, according to a press release. Target is opening a holiday pop-up shop near the High Line at Washington and Gansevoort streets. In Greenwich Village, Papaya King shuttered its hot dog shop on 14th Street and Seventh Avenue last week. In the East Village, Permanent Brunch will reopen as Permanent Brunch and Burger on First Street.  Pet care and animal rescue called Li’l Monsters will open at 79 East 10th Street between Avenue A and First Avenue. Paws & Relax will open on Avenue B near 13th Street. Colors restaurant has reopened on Lafayette Street and Cooper Square. Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan are aiming to open a new restaurant by January in the former Civetta space at 98 Kenmare Street.

In Midtown, less than six months after changing owners, Baraca on 38th between Fifth and Sixth avenues will open again as Olympic Pita.

On the Upper West Side, Jimmy’s Custom Framing will be opening up in the space that Bruno’s Ravioli recently vacated on Broadway between 78th and 79th streets, and Under Armour is bringing a pop-up shop to 3 West 57th Street. Mr. Softee ice cream trucks will now serve soup on the Upper West Side. On the Upper East Side, Lisa Perry clothing retailer has opened a shop on the corner of Madison and 76th Street.

In Central Park, Le Pain Quotidien will take over the Mineral Springs café by the Sheep Meadow in Central Park. In Harlem, Charles’ Country Pan Fried Chicken has opened at 2839-2841 Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

In Brooklyn, Coney Island’s famed Totonno’s Pizzeria at 1524 Neptune Avenue is expected to open in two weeks. A storefront on Smith Street between Bergen and Dean streets in Boerum Hill will be the future home of DNA Shoes. Antidote Bike Shop will open in about two weeks at 337 Marcus Garvey Boulevard between Madison Street and Putnam Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Vermont Balsam will be set up on Union Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues in Park Slope.

In Long Island City, Queens, the former Getty auto body shop on 11th Street between 47th Road and 47th Avenue has opened as a bakery, the Breadbox. A French café is rumored to have leased the former Brasil Coffee House space at 48-19 Vernon Boulevard. The owners of the Tennisport Restaurant are bringing a Cuban Grill & Steakhouse called Madeza to 4729 Vernon Boulevard. Pooches Sport & Spa will open at 4-75 48th Avenue. A preschool called St. Lolly’s Early Learning Center is opening on the ground floor of an old engineering building on 47th Avenue, just east of Fifth Street. Open Door Restaurant will be opening this winter at 5-09 50th Avenue, between Vernon Boulevard and Jackson Avenue. An Italian furniture store is still under construction in the ground-floor retail space at 10-50 Jackson Avenue. Health food market Natural Frontier Market is is coming to the ground floor of 12-01 Jackson Avenue at 11th Street. CBRE has opened an office at 4705 Center Boulevard. Children’s boutique & consignment store called Little Closets is now open in the former Art-O-Mat space at 46-46 Vernon Boulevard. A temporary boutique has opened in the Window Gallery space at 13-03a Jackson Avenue. A new café is coming to the space next to Da Gianni’s Ristorante on 44th Drive just west of 23rd Street. City Dog Lounge on Vernon Boulevard at 49th Avenue will reopen soon, doing business as Kitty & Dog Lounge.

Amid these openings, there have also been some closings. On the Upper West Side, shoe store Jubilee has shuttered between 76th and 77th streets on Broadway. Yuki Sushi has closed on 92nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
