The public space in front of the Jacob K. Javits Building at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan will be redesigned this spring, according to the Architect’s Newspaper, with architect Wank Adams Slavin Associates taking the lead and landscape architects Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates working under them. The project is expected to take two years to complete, with a $5 million to $10 million budget estimated, according to the General Services Administration. The design, while largely an aesthetic endeavor, will address current damages to the facility’s parking garage roof and will add extra security features to the area.
