Turning fridges into closets

For New York City apartment-dwellers who hate cooking and love shopping, refrigerators aren’t for storing snacks, they’re just another closet, according to the New York Post. But an aversion for eating in isn’t the only reason to transform your fridge into an armoire — these space-savvy tenants say with square footage at a premium, putting clothes in the kitchen can help you squeeze your stuff into a smaller apartment. Blame it on the so-called “takeout culture” of New York or the high-priced apartments, but Jen Salgado, a West Village resident, says her one-bedroom apartment benefits from the fridge-turned-closet approach. And the trend is catching on, according to her anecdotal observations. “Oh my gosh,” Salgado said, “Who doesn’t use their kitchen as a closed in New York?”
