The Landmarks Preservation Commission has deemed the sixth-floor addition to a townhouse at 12-14 West 68th Street to be in violation of city regulations, according to the Wall Street Journal. Too bad, for the homeowner, that the sixth floor add-on has already been built. While it’s not immediately clear how the homeowner gained approval for the project from the Department of Buildings, the commission is adamant that the added height on the 19th century home must soon get knocked out. “People have accused us of trying to sneak something by the commission,” Polly Cleveland, the building owner said. “But we didn’t know.” [WSJ]
