Negotiations have started up again between the Hotel and Motel Trades Council and Dean Poll, the newly-selected operator for Tavern on the Green, the city-owned landmark eatery, according to the New York Times. Negotiations had reached an impasse earlier this month, reportedly over Poll’s initial worker proposal, which the union found inadequate. Under Poll’s terms, new employees would be paid minimum wage and would receive no warning on layoffs or reductions in hours, while banquet workers would not be paid tips. After details from the contentious negotiations became public, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, handed down a gag order, requesting both sides to stay quiet on the matter. [NYT]
