Common Ground, a non-profit organization supporting housing and homelessness prevention, will be holding a ribbon cutting for a residential LEED-certified building tomorrow, the Brook, at 455 East 148th Street, between Bergen and Brook Avenues in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. Within the 190-unit, $43 million six-story building, 120 units are reserved for formerly homeless adults, including those with special needs. An additional 70 units are reserved for low-income single adults from the South Bronx. Construction was completed in January followed by residents moving in on Jan. 20. The project marks Common Ground’s first construction project in the Bronx. Building amenities include a 2,400-square-foot community event space, large outdoor garden, computer lab, fitness room and on-site laundry. Eco-friendly features include a green roof, a building management system to control temperature, lighting and motion sensors, hydronic wall panels, high-efficiency boiler and bike storage. TRD
