Former Corcoran Hamptons broker Charlotte DePersia jailed for violating probation

Charlotte DePersia, a former East Hampton broker at the Corcoran Group, was jailed today for violating her probation by drinking alcohol, Patch reported. Her bail was set at $500,000 cash or $1 million bond.

As The Real Deal previously reported, DePersia was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in November 2010, when she swerved into the right lane on Montauk Highway and hit a BMW, injuring two people. According to a Suffolk County District Attorney press release, DePersia injured two women in the crash. Roughly a year later, DePersia pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation and community service.

However, DePersia admitted to the probation department that she had two glasses of wine on March 10 at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk. Suffolk assistant District Attorney Kate Wagner reminded Judge William Condon of his words during the December trial that if DePersia failed one more drug and alcohol test, she would be sent to an upstate prison, according to Patch.

DePersia’s attorney, Tad Scharfenberg, said that DePersia had been in alcohol treatment since the time of the crash and had 15 months of good behavior on her record. Scharfenberg didn’t return a call from The Real Deal seeking comment.

Corcoran did not immediately respond to The Real Deal‘s request for comment.

DePersia’s Next Court date is May 1. [Patch]
