Coldwell Banker is launching a film festival focused on the significance and meaning of what makes a house a home.

The festival is to feature the top 10 films from Coldwell Banker and video competition operator MOFILM’s recent global competition, which examines the “value of a home” through the eyes of international filmmakers from India, Brazil, Mexico, China and the U.S.

“Videos have a powerful way of providing a glimpse into the special role our homes play in all of our lives,” Sean Blankenship, senior vice president of marketing at Coldwell Banker, told Real Estate Weekly. “It’s why for generations, we’ve made home movies; first with video recorders, then with flip phones, and now with our smartphone devices at the touch of a button.”

“Ghar,” MOFILM’s winning film by Aashini Shah from Ahmedebad, India, examines a young couple’s experience breaking from the tradition of living with extended family.

The festival will also include a series on the world’s most expensive homes.

It starts today and runs through Sept. 27 at Coldwellbanker.com, and also show videos on Coldwell Banker’s YouTube channel. [REW]Julie Strickland
