From LLNYC: A stunning townhouse on the Upper West Side owned by hotel developer, Sam Domb, has just hit the market asking $14.25 million, according to StreetEasy records.
Domb founded the Empire Hotel Group, which manages boutique hotels like the Pearl and the Belvedere (among others). His children now run the business.
He bought the house at 318 West 81st Street in 2002, under an LLC that is registered in his name. It is likely that he operated it as rental building, but according to the listing, with Richard Pretsfelder of Leslie Garfield, it has since been converted into a single family home.
The 8,200-square-foot mansion was designed by architect Clarence True and built in 1898. It has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, views of the river, gardens, a finished basement, an 18-person dining room and a butler’s pantry.
The home had been listed earlier this year for a hair short of $16 million, but that previous listing (with Dean Segal and Yuval Siri of Dean Jacob Realty LLC) only had a few pictures. And as we think you can see, boy do these pictures make a difference.
