An estate on Long Island’s Gold Coast with a home remodeled by Richard Meier is on the market for $18 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The three-acre property is in Sands Point, a village on the north shore of Long Island. The property was once owned by the Brooklyn Archdiocese and was used as a retreat for nuns.
Harry Maidman bought the property in 1971 and hired Meier to turn it into a home. The main home’s most prominent exterior feature is the three-story corkscrew slide that connects to the top floor. Meier, the now disgraced architect, also designed built-in furniture for the house, which is included in the sale. [WSJ] — Dennis Lynch
