Apple is preparing to start construction on its north San Jose office campus, expanding its 85-acre home located at Orchard Parkway and Charcot Avenue.

Cupertino-based Apple will likely focus on two existing buildings on the campus, located at 2325 and 2509 Orchard Parkway, according to the San Jose Mercury News’ Siliconvalley.com. The buildings offer 286,000 and 202,000 square feet of office space respectively.

“It’s wonderful to see Apple’s expansion in north San Jose, where they’ve already demonstrated their strong commitment to the community through their generous efforts to support our unhoused residents in that neighborhood,” San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said in the article.

A segment of Apple’s campus site has reportedly been earmarked for affordable housing, but specific plans have not been released yet.

In addition to the office campus, Apple has also leased 701,000 square feet in Sunnyvale.

“All of this is good news because this will probably lead to more people in north San Jose for Apple,” Dave Sandlin, an executive vice president with commercial real estate firm Colliers, said. “Apple is not a company that just moves into two outlying buildings. They like to cluster.”
