Oceanfront “Basic Instinct” house lands back on market with $30M price tag

The oceanside Carmel Highlands house where Sharon Stone’s character lived in “Basic Instinct” is back on the market for $30 million.

The Lodge at Spindrift, built in 1983 by adventurer Steve Fossett, is one of five homes in the Seven Coves residential compound that was listed for just over $52 million in 2019, the San Francisco Business Times reported. The property was divided into individual parcels and the main house got a makeover and a new list price.

Gary Vickers paid about $15 million for the home in 2018, before it was listed with the rest of the compound.

Pacific Heights Victorian once owned by Linda Ronstadt hits market at $17.5M

“The current owner spent millions on renovations,” listing agent Jonathan Spencer told SFGate. “The home lives like new construction.”

The 12,100-square-foot, six-bedroom house has an updated kitchen with new appliances, a wood-burning pizza oven and a climate-controlled wine wall. Updates include remodeled bathrooms and two new bedrooms. The home also has a steam room and commercial-scale gym with water views.

A two-story library with a winding staircase and domed ceiling remained after the renovations, as did a glass-walled breakfast room. The outside pool with a multilevel waterfall was updated with new equipment and plumbing. The owner also added new lighting and a seating area with a fire pit to the backyard.

The property was also featured in an episode of HBO’s “Big Little Lies.”
