Buster Posey, the baseball star who left the Bay Area after retiring from the San Francisco Giants, is back with the purchase of an $8.3 million home in Lafayette.
The three-time World Series-winning catcher last year quietly snatched the 6,400-square foot home at 4067 Happy Valley Road, Realtor.com reported.
The unidentified seller bought the 2.4-acre lot in 1994. The house, built in 2012, listed in May last year for $8.63 million. Posey picked it up in June for $8.25 million, according to Zillow.
The seven-time All-Star has spent years after his abrupt MLB retirement making a cross-country U-turn back to Contra Costa County, according to Realtor.com.
After leaving the Giants following the 2021 season and heading home to Georgia, Posey sold a different home in Lafayette for $9.3 million. He then unloaded his 106-acre ranch in Oroville, which listed for $3.9 million, 70 miles north of Sacramento.
While in the Peach State, Posey bought into the Giants ownership group and decided to return to the Bay Area. So he sold his Georgia home last year for $3.9 million.
His new house in Lafayette is a single-story ranch house sheathed in stone, plus a guesthouse.
Carved front doors open onto a foyer with fossil-stone floors and skylights. A combination living room, kitchen and dining area has pitched ceilings, recessed lighting and European oak floors.
The living area has a modern fireplace and built-in wood shelves. The kitchen has dual center islands and stainless steel appliances.
Bedrooms have built-in desks, en suite bathrooms and bay windows. The home comes with an office and a four-car garage.
Outside, there’s a pool, spa and covered cabana, craft room, plus a barbecue kitchenette, fire pit and full tennis court surrounded by gardens, fruit trees and wisteria-covered walkways.
Posey made his MLB start in 2009 with the San Francisco Giants and spent his 12-year career with the team.
