GDS Wealth Management, based in Flower Mound, Texas, is the first land buyer in Lakeside Village and is expected to move into its new building there in about 18 months.

The company, which employs 14, purchased land in the Lakeside Village development in March, Community Impact Newspaper reported, and will construct a new building at 2910 Lakeside Village Parkway, according to a Lakeside DFW news release.

“In addition to easy access for our clients, we wanted a vibrant location to create the right experience for our clients,” said GDS Wealth Management executive Glen Smith in the release. Smith said he recalls seeing plans for the Lakeside Village back in 2018, including the amphitheater at the lake, as well as various high rises and restaurants overlooking the lake.

The move to Lakeside Village will offer the chance to be in a place that contributes to the quality of life for employees, according to the release. The company has plans to continue growing in coming years, and its new Flower Mound office is supposed to help accommodate that growth.

Smith started as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, eventually rising to the positon of senior vice president, then went to Raymond James as a financial adviser before starting his own office in 2004. He first began scouting the Lakeside Village property in 2018.

“At our current growth rate, we wanted a location large enough to accommodate our team’s growth for at least 10 years. This new office will allow us to expand, and we will have room for as many as 72 teammates at GDS Wealth Management,” Smith said in the release. “We really want to put our stake in the ground as not just one of the top wealth management firms in Flower Mound, but in the entire state of Texas.”
