The developer wants to build a 60-unit affordable housing complex.

A 60-unit housing affordable housing complex could soon rise behind the Southampton Full Gospel Church, 27east reported. Concern for Independent Living is seeking permission to apply for a zoning change it needs in order to construct the project. The organization’s executive director, Ralph Fasano, told the Southampton Town Board he secured 60 to 70 letters from community members who support construction. While board members have asked Fasano to scale the project down to 50 units, Fasano said he’ll have $1.7 million less than he needs to cover his costs if he does that. Town Planning and Development Administrator Kyle Collins will be submitting a report with details about Fasano’s application by a Sept. 9 meeting, and the board could grant him approval to apply for the zoning change at that meeting, according to the outlet.
