Peekskill and Baldwin will each be getting $10 million to revitalize their downtowns as part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative, Long Island Business News and LoHud reported. Peekskill, Cuomo said, has a “magnificent opportunity on the waterfront,” according to LoHud. The money could be used to renovate a downtown gazebo, or create walking trails and outdoor sculpture that “connect the downtown to the riverfront,” the outlet reported. Baldwin, meanwhile, plans to focus on the commercial corridor of Grand Avenue, according to LIBN. “This money will enable Baldwin’s downtown to finally live up to its potential — and boost our local economy by attracting new families, tourists and businesses,” Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said.
