Hamptons renters and residents are increasingly turning to home-listing sites to find and rent out vacation homes — and brokers are feeling the effects, the Wall Street Journal reported. The vacation home-rental market used to be a “reliable source of summer income for local brokers,” but that has changed, as renters are using sites like Airbnb and HomeAway to book shorter vacations — often at the last minute, according to the outlet. There has also been a significant increase in the number of listings on home-sharing services, due in part to the slowdown in sales in the area. Still, some landlords are still turning to brokers for help “securing quality tenants” and navigating local rental laws. [WSJ]
