A village on Long Island is trying to stop the recently-approved Belmont Park project from moving forward, Long Island Business News reported. The Village of Floral Park filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court on Tuesday claiming Empire State Development — which approved the final impact statement for the $1.3 billion project last month — didn’t take residents’ concerns into account. The lawsuit claims the project will have “very real negative consequences” for the village and wants to see new environmental impact studies carried out, according to the outlet. An ESD spokesman declined to comment on the lawsuit, but said the organization would “vigorously defend our actions so we can move forward with this project.” [LIBN]
