The owners of a “gutted Tudor-style home” in Montauk turned to an auction to sell the property, Newsday reported. The property was auctioned off for an undisclosed price last week, Richard Maltz, CEO and president of Central Islip-based Maltz Auctions, told the outlet. The owners initially put the property on the market for $1.995 million, but later decided to auction it off, as they were “looking for a quick and easy sale,” Maltz said; the minimum bid was $950,000. Owners are increasingly turning to auctions “as a way to drum up interest in luxury properties that would normally sit on the market while waiting for the right buyer,” Newsday noted. [Newsday]
