A Southampton billionaire hoping to offer sit-down service at his takeout eatery in Montauk has filed a number of petitions against East Hampton Town in an effort to avoid a lengthy land review process the town requires — but the town is fighting his litigation, Newsday reported. Apollo Global Management co-founder Marc Rowan’s Sunrise Tuthill I LLC shelled out $6.3 million for Duryea’s Lobster Deck back in 2014 and started filing the petitions in March 2018, according to the outlet. East Hampton Town’s board has since voted to allocate up to $424,000 to pay its attorneys at Sokoloff Stern LLP. “[Sunrise Tuthill is] trying to strong arm the town,” Sokoloff Stern’s Steve Stern told the outlet.
