George Comfort & Sons scores a win in Stamford office park conversion battle

A developer hoping to turn a vacant corporate park in Stamford into a Life Time fitness center secured a win in its legal battle with residents opposed to the project. The city’s Board of Representatives accepted a petition signed by residents who wanted to reverse a zoning change allowing “the conversion of mostly vacant corporate parks in residential buildings into other businesses.” But a state Superior Court judge ruled in favor of developer George Comfort & Sons’ appeal of the board’s acceptance, citing a lack of petition signatures, the Fairfield County Business Journal reported. George Comfort & Sons now says it will move forward with its plans for the former Frontier Communications building.
