Builders on the South Fork are “taking it day to day” amid New York State’s coronavirus-related halt on nonessential construction, the East Hampton Star reported. Before Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued the revised rules regarding construction on March 27, East Hampton Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc had sent a letter noting that construction sites “present a prime opportunity to spread the coronavirus,” according to the outlet. One builder, Montauk Precision Home Improvement Services founder Scott Braddick, told the outlet that he thinks the halt is a good thing as far as public health goes, but noted that 40 people he knows – framers, plumbers, electricians – are out of work due to the virus’ impact. Renovations had to stop, leaving incomplete projects across the Hamptons. Ben Shoshi, of East Hampton’s Shoshi Builders, meanwhile, said his company is “taking it day to day.” [East Hampton Star]
