The East End of Long Island may always be New York’s premier coastal getaway, but the Hamptons aren’t all that Long Island has to offer. Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon are campaigning to make the small town of Nissequogue on Long Island’s North Shore the next big thing, according to Newsday.

The two brokers have recently renovated an 11,000-square-foot mansion in the town, which sits on Long Island Sound about 50 miles out of New York City — much closer than the Hamptons. They say Nissequogue has everything the East End communities have, but fewer crowds and cheaper real estate.

“The next hot neighborhood doesn’t emerge from the ether. It is created,” Postilio said. [Newsday] — Dennis Lynch
