A rental in the Hamptons isn’t the only thing that’s hard to find these days. So are rental cars to get out there from the city, according to Bloomberg. A lot of them were rented one-way by people fleeing the city for the East End in recent months. On top of that, there’s strong demand from people wary of getting on trains or planes. The $240 average for a one-day rental through Avis is 25 percent higher than February and twice as much as the low in late April. Enterprise spokesperson Lisa Martini said a “large number of rentals” leaving New York haven’t been returned. [Bloomberg] – Dennis Lynch
