A landlord-tenant dispute in Southampton has reached the mayor’s office. In fact, it involves the mayor.

Town Mayor Jesse Warren is getting forced out of his apartment by landlord Mark Epley, who is the former Southampton Mayor, according to the Southampton Press. Epley recently purchased the property.

Warren received a 90-day notice to vacate. That arrived after Epley’s son, Zach, lost to Warren-supported candidates for a Southampton Village Board seat.

The Epleys previously claimed they didn’t care that their political rival lived in their newly-purchased building, but last week appeared to imply the decision was related to the election.

“He dug his own grave on that one,” Zach Epley said. “It’s about how nasty he was during the election and how he harassed our family.” Epley added that “we knew we were going to kick Jesse out before Election Day, win or lose.” [Southampton Press]
