Developer cuts 76 units from affordable housing proposal in Quiogue

Multifamily developer NRP Group has returned to the Southampton Town Board with a scaled-down plan for an affordable housing complex on 17 acres in Quiogue.

The new proposal calls for 104 units, down from the original 180-unit proposal in March, according to the Southampton Press.

Board members appeared less than enthused about a project of that scale at the time. NRP is asking the town board to change zoning from low-density residential to multifamily. The board has not formally said it will consider the project.

Town Planning and Development Administrator Janice Scherer said it was “important to provide affordable housing,” and that NRP “has done a nice job working with me, trying to meld this into a more palatable proposal.” [Southampton Press] — Dennis Lynch
